Cape Disappointment State Park, Washington

We decided to walk up to look over Cape Disappointment and I stopped to take this photo along the way.
Smiles at the top of the path.
The Trail to the Light House..

Evening sky above and Dead Mans Cove below.

The sea scape awed my eyes, the waves in rhythmic action I watched and the booming caught in my ears was like the music playing of a disco rock band.
Loud  echoes surrounded me when I spoke out loud, amplified by the concrete walls of the structure.

Hunting: Icy Weather, Opening day of Genral Elk Season, Oregon

1st Day of Elk Hunting 2014.

We made it to the top.  Where are all the other hunters?

Following in the path of the elk herd, we took note of the meadow where they laid down.  No ice on the grass hoof prints abound.

Fresh tracks, we were behind the herd as our every step echoed through out the ice crusted forest like chimes in the wind.
Every step we took was crunching sounds and the droppings we saw where still steaming.

Rest Stop: Washington side of the Bridge to Astoria, Oregon

We are at the Rest stop on the Washington bank of the Columbia River.
I see  blue sky to the east and the sun going down behind the Astoria Bridge.

Four large tanker ships hold steady in the strong current.
We wait in line for our turn.
Crews paint as we drive by in the one way lane set up.

We turn and take route 202 from Astoria to Jewell.  We stop at the Jewell Meadows Wildlife Area that is funded by the purchases of sporting arms and ammunition.  Elk sighting is our nature observation.

We turn east on Hwy26.  At the Sunset rest stop we throw the softball 30 times. Hwy 26 turns into 47 just past manning, taking us home.  Great trip.

Path at Tumwater Falls, Washington

 Upper falls
 Path heading down.
Fish ladder.

The lower falls area.  The salmon where just about spawned out.  The weekend before was the main run that was counted.  There was a few fish giving it what was the last  energy swim up stream at the tail end of spawning.

The old Brewery seen just above the trees.

We drove to the upper park to get a full shot of the other side of the old brewery.
